Her association with special needs individuals has grown organically, and she's been involved in various capacities, from working in schools to participating in IEP meetings. Sensei Rachelle's martial arts journey took root at the tender age of 6, when her parents enrolled her in karate classes. Little did they know that this decision would not only instill confidence, social skills, and physical fitness but also lay the foundation for a lifelong dedication. Over the years, Sensei Rachelle's journey has been characterized by personal growth and the discovery of her own strengths. As she grappled with challenges like ADHD, Dyslexia, and Anxiety, martial arts became a refuge that nurtured focus, calmness, and a sense of purpose.
Her achievements in the realm of martial arts are nothing short of impressive. She holds multiple Black Belts across different styles, including a Master's Degree in Shotokan karate. Notably, Sensei Rachelle achieved a significant milestone by becoming the second woman in the United States to attain a black belt in the esteemed Chukidokwan style, a feat her mother had previously accomplished. Her prowess extends to international recognition as a National Champion and a silver and bronze medalist in WKC world championships.
One of Sensei Rachelle's most significant contributions to the martial arts community is the creation of the Special Ninjas Therapeutic Martial Arts program. Sensei Amanda
Meet Amanda, a dedicated karate instructor with a passion for guiding and empowering the younger generation. Since her kindergarten years in 2008-2009, Amanda has immersed herself in the world of karate, using it as a powerful tool for physical, emotional, and social growth. Diagnosed with autism at age 3, Amanda defied expectations, proving that determination knows no boundaries.
In 2016, Amanda became involved with Special Ninjas, channeling her personal experiences to support and mentor others facing similar challenges. Beyond the dojo, Amanda found a creative escape in her high school's theatre program, where she honed her confidence and voice.
Since the summer of 2022, Amanda has been pursuing her associate's degree in early childhood education, aiming to blend her passion for guiding young students with disabilities and fulfilling her dream of obtaining a black belt. Her motto, "you can achieve anything when you put your mind to it, no matter what," echoes in her daily life, setting an inspiring example for her students both inside and outside the dojo.
Amanda's commitment extends to Owens Community College, where she studies Early Childhood Education, and her role at the YMCA Child Development Center, providing valuable insights into education and the guidance of young children. Eager to collaborate with Sensei Raā€™chelle, Amanda continuously seeks innovative techniques to teach her students to improvise, adapt, and overcome challenges in the dojo and beyond.
Sensei Kaiden
Kaiden, a dedicated martial arts enthusiast, achieved his black belt in karate after 7 years of unwavering commitment, showcasing his discipline and determination. Currently a high-achieving junior at Northview High School, Kaiden not only maintains a spot on the principal's list but has also earned a varsity letter in Choir, demonstrating his versatility.
Ā Beyond the dojo, Kaiden actively contributes to his community, notably serving on the ProMedica Toledo Children's Hospital Teen Advisory Council and being a part of the Beyond the Frame interactive exhibit at the hospital entrance. He extends his commitment to community safety by volunteering as a teacher's assistant for the Toledo Police Department Safe-T-City TORCH Program.
Ā In addition to his martial arts prowess, Kaiden is a valued member of the Northview Bowling Team for 2 years. In his spare time, he indulges in various interests, including cooking, WWE, and his passion for music and singing. Kaiden's multifaceted skills and community engagement make him a well-rounded martial arts instructor.
